Chalong district is located in the Southern part of the island, 15 kilometres away from the Southern end, between Rawai district and Phuket Town. Chalong borders the sea on the eastern side.


As the basic guideline  we can be mention a road junction “Chalong Ring” where roads converge from Phuket Town, the Festival Center (airport direction) districts Kata Karon, Rawai, as well as the road leading to Chalong Pier.

Chalong is also famous for such attractions such as the Big Buddha , Chalong Temple , Birds’ Garden, Botanic Garden.


Next to the “Ring” there is a supermarket Home Pro – a shopping complex  with goods for construction and home, household shops, cafes, restaurants, grocery supermarket Villa Market.

In the direction of Rawai district a small shopping center Tesco Lotus is located. It has a grocery store, a coffee shop, bank branches, mobile phone stores.

In the area of ​​Chalong Temple there is Golf Club Punaka. Further towards the Central Festival shopping center International School is located.

“District of Thai Boxing ” –  a street with lots of schools of Muay Tai and the most famous club of Muay Thai – Tiger.

European and Thai cafes and restaurants, markets, mini-market 7 – Eleven, Supercheap, FamilyMart.

Tourist supermarkets of latex, souvenirs, jewelry and bijouterie. silk.

Car service centers of Honda, Toyota and Suzuki.


The way to the beaches of Kata, Karon, Nai Harn through Chalong Ring takes an average of 15-20 minutes.


Pros and Cons

The distance from the sea and lack of accommodation with sea views can be considered as disadvantages. Tha Chalong Ring road interchange is also a problematic part of the district.

The equidistance from “strategically ” important places and their availability – shopping malls, international school, international hospitals – is a certain advantage of the district.

Probably these are the reasons,  why this disctrict is preferred by those who come for a long period of time with children who need to go to school. Or people coming on holiday, the ones who prefer distance from the sea and tourist crowds.

Selection of land for housing presents various options, including land with views of the lake, mountains, or perched on a hill with panoramic views of the golf course, temples and valleys. There is an opportunity to pick up land overlooking the bay.

Selection of ready-made houses includes cottage villages and private houses at different prices.

Future development of the district is based upon the construction of the Phuket area Dam and a new road through the pass connecting Chalong to Patong. The length of this pass will be about 5-7 km, which is almost three times shorter than the existing alternatives.

The construction of a new hypermarket Tesco Lotus is being finished  in late 2013 in Chalong. Nowadays it takes customers 25-35 minutes to reach a similar mall. Hypermarket Macro us being constructed at the “border ” with Rawai district.

The authorities are considering expanding interchanges on the Ring, however, by the end of 2013 there were no official plans and the timing of the construction.
