A project to build a bridge connecting Phuket and Krabi, which runs through the island of Koh Yao, is currently awaiting public hearings and the conclusion of an ecological study. The working title of the project is “Long Island.” Construction of the bridge will impact tourism since upon completion, a trip to Krabi will take 40 minutes as opposed to 3 hours. Once it begins, the project is expected to take four years.
