Phuket9 Receives Prestigious European Quality Award in Vienna
In September 2021, a new educational institution — Rawai School — opened on the grounds of the well-known children's entertainment complex Rawai Park in Phuket. The project became the first infrastructure facility of this kind for the development company Phuket9. In this article, we will tell you why the school has become truly outstanding and why you and your children should definitely visit it.
The demand for high-quality school education has no geographical or any other boundaries. Every parent dreams of providing their beloved child with an interesting, engaging, and effective learning process. We were guided by these same principles when developing the future school.
The initial idea, which was later brought to life, was to create a school that would offer the widest possible range of educational services, combine bilingual programs with intensive lessons in exact sciences without putting excessive pressure on students or causing them to “overheat,” and at the same time have a small and strictly limited number of students. The school was also designed to have only professional teachers and, most importantly, not to become a “conveyor belt” without an individual approach to each student.

The School Curriculum
Creating the school’s main curriculum became the first challenge for the organizing team. Most international schools in Phuket usually follow a specific curriculum, without providing alternatives within the main educational process and offering only limited-time elective classes. Since a significant part of the future school’s audience was children from former Soviet countries, focusing exclusively on the popular Cambridge International program seemed insufficient.
Creating the school’s main curriculum became the first challenge for the organizing team. Most international schools in Phuket usually follow a specific curriculum, without providing alternatives within the main educational process and offering only limited-time elective classes. Since a significant part of the future school’s audience was children from former Soviet countries, focusing exclusively on the popular Cambridge International program seemed insufficient.
As a result, we developed our own (and, in our opinion, absolutely unique) curriculum. It combines the Cambridge program (60% of the total study hours), the Mathematics program of the Republic of Singapore (20%), and the basic program approved by the Russian Ministry of Education (20%).
The main part of the “Cambridge” program allowed us to focus more on learning English through the main school subjects, as well as during regular and extracurricular activities.
Singapore Mathematics was chosen because of its leading position in the global education system. Teaching methods from Singapore have proven their effectiveness at international academic competitions for many years and have shown impressive results in entrance tests at top universities around the world.
The Russian program. The original plan was to provide native Russian-speaking students with enough educational support to maintain their communication in Russian, as gradually “forgetting” the language is quite common among Russian-speaking children who study in international schools in Phuket for a long time. Over time, children often switch completely to English because it is easier for them to communicate with peers from other countries. However, in practice, introducing the Russian program showed strong interest from children for whom Russian is not their native language.

Main School Language and Adaptation
The main language of the entire educational program at Rawai Park School is English. It is used for 80% of all school lessons and almost 100% of extracurricular and elective classes.
The main concern for parents whose children do not even have basic English is how their child will adapt to the new environment. To reduce these worries, we developed a special method for gradually introducing English into the learning process for new students.
Thanks to the careful support of teachers and friendly support from other students, the adaptation period rarely takes more than two months. After this period, most of our students who previously did not speak English can already communicate freely at a basic level.
